Hi there! Today, I am sharing our honeymoon with you guys! I am still day dreaming about laying out on the beach with a cocktail in my hand. We had the best time in Jamaica for our honeymoon. When we first planned our trip we didn’t really think too much about timing. We figured that we would be fine if we took a red-eye the day after our wedding. We were set on going the day after our wedding. I wouldn’t have changed it now looking back, but it was definitely a rough flight. The day after our wedding our parents had a BBQ for all of our closet family and friends, we still had to pack and do a few things before we jumped on our flight.
Before the uber came to pick us up that night, I was already falling asleep. We kept saying why did we think it was a good idea to take a red-eye the day after our wedding?! We pulled ourselves together and jumped into the uber and went through all of the craziness at the airport. Once we went through security it wasn’t long after that we boarded, thank goodness! Once we got on the plane we pretty much crashed out. I slept on and off until we had to get off at our layover. It was a super short layover and then we were Jamaica bound! Side note: I was definitely wearing my “wifey” shirt!
When we arrived in Jamaica we were hit with so much humidity, but we were so excited to finally be there! We had a car waiting for us, we still had an hour and half drive to Negril. It’s crazy how they don’t really use their air conditioning there, we drove the whole way with the windows down. The wind put me back to sleep, I had to flight to keep my eyes open! I wanted to soak up the scenery, so I had to fight pretty hard. Our driver was super friendly and kept giving us suggestions of places to go, I was getting a kick out of him saying “ya mon” after everything. Once we got closer he stopped at some spots that he suggested and let us take a look. At first I was a little freaked out and looked at Jason like “what is going on”. Before we when to Jamaica we heard some stories and got a little freaked out, but our experience was nothing like the stories.
When we finally go to our resort we were welcomed with these agave drinks and neck massages. It felt so good after a long flight and drive! It was about 11am Jamaica time when we got to the resort. We got a tour of the resort and once we checked in we went to our room to unpack. We literally laid down for a minute and ended up falling asleep for 3 hours! It was rejuvenating though, we need it. Once we woke up we were ready to go! We got ready and went down to hotel bar for drinks before dinner. That fist night was a very relaxing, we ended up going to bed pretty early as well.
The next day we planned out our week, hung out by the resort pool and got massages later that evening. It was a perfect first day! We didn’t want to jump into anything right away, we just wanted to slow down and relax. The picture quality on all of these photos aren’t so great, because this girl didn’t bring her camera, so they were all taken with my Iphone. These photos were all from our first full day and Jason is already so red! He put on so much sun screen on, but the Jamaican sun was brutal!
After the first day we decided to go out and explore for the rest of our stay in Jamaica. We took a boat out to an island to snorkel and get some fresh cooked lobster. We walked the town and stopped into some shops. We went to Mayfield Falls and swam through the spring water falls. We went down to the 7 mile beach (a couple of days). We tried out some cool restaurants and bars. I can not say enough good things about Jamaican food! We honestly didn’t have one bad meal! Everything was fantastic and we really enjoyed our time there, although like most trips it went by way too fast! Here are a few pictures of our out goings and time in Jamaica.
This guy here made all of his own decor with his hands out of beer bottles and wood. There were so many little entrepreneurs out there that tried to sell us their homemade items. He was super talented, we bought some wooden birds from him. I wasn’t sure what we were going to do with them, but we gave them a home on our patio. He engraved his initials on the back, so we wouldn’t forget lol. All of the Jamaican people we interacted with were so nice and friendly! They all just enjoy a slow pace life, which is complete different from most of us here in the U.S.
These pictures are in no particular order, just wanted to share some of our time in Jamaica. We had the best time and I can not wait for our other vacations coming up this year! If you are thinking about honeymoon spots, I would definitely suggest Negril, Jamaica. For us we didn’t want to go anywhere after our wedding that would require a ton of travel or that was too touristy, so Jamaica was perfect. Everybody was so great to us, our time was so fun and relaxing. Thanks for reading!!
